One of my friends recently asked me how I have my life put together? And the honest answer is that I do not.
I struggle. I worry. I am learning.
The skills that I have learned over the last couple of years have really helped. I am glad to say that I am at a spot where I am content with myself and my surroundings. However, I still have a lot to learn. One of the major secrets that I have learned is that we cannot change other people. We have to learn to adapt to our environment.
As I was learning all these things, I wanted to share this with all; thus the reason for starting this podcast.
In this day and age, it seems like we are living fake, pretend lives.
There are two examples :
On the one hand, we have people who do not have wealth and are living in debt. They are showing to the world like they are living rich lives, either with expensive food, clothes, bags, or vacations.
On the other hand, we have true wealthy people, who have figured out the secrets of life. They have found success with money and in relationships. But they are not willing to share. Their reasons for not sharing include fear of being judged because they have it all vs. fears of jealousy.
My view on this is that these are both lies: if we pretend to be living happy or unhappy.
The major issue that comes from this is that we end up mostly lying to ourselves. We never really get to know our true selves. If we do not admit to ourselves about our wants and needs, then it becomes harder to get them.
For example, if our body is craving a certain food, instead of acknowledging the want, we end up resisting by telling ourselves that we do not really want this. The resistance does not work, and of course, we end up eating it, then feeling guilty and beating ourselves up for it. This turns into a perpetual cycle.
We need to get to know ourselves, without judging or criticizing. Being authentic with ourselves leads us to trust ourselves.
Once we learn who we are, we discover the things that make us complete. We become free of being controlled by our emotions. We learn to create a world that we desire or envision for ourselves and others.
We learn that contribution is our basic human need. That by sharing, we do not lose our knowledge or our skills.
